The 2019 ABCA/Rawlings High School All-America teams have been released by the American Baseball Coaches Association and Rawlings Sporting Goods, featuring the top prep players in the nation. ABCA/Rawlings High School All-Region selections, which were announced Monday, were nominated for All-America honors.
In all divisions, the ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove Teams will be announced Wednesday, June 19 via Rawlings Sporting Goods' Twitter and the ABCA website. The ABCA/Rawlings National Pitchers of the Year will be announced on June 24 followed by the ABCA/Rawlings Players of the Year on June 26.
First recognized in 1949, the ABCA/Rawlings High School All-America teams are selected by the ABCA High School All-America committee, which is chaired by Jimmy Harris, head baseball coach at Stillwater High School (OK). The committee also includes head coaches Scott Steltz of Chatham High School (NY), Michael Hogan of Ferris High School (NJ), Jim Cahill of North Forsyth High School (GA), Ray Benjamin of St. Charles Prep High School (OH), Heath Gerstner of McPherson High School (KS), L. Scott Bullock of Rocky Mountain High School (CO) and Rigoberto Ledezma of Santana High School (CA).
The ABCA/Rawlings All-America and Gold Glove Teams are selected in nine divisions: NCAA Divisions I, II and III, NAIA, NJCAA Divisions I, II and III, Pacific Association Division, and high school. ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove teams were first recognized in 2007.
The ABCA, founded in 1945, is the primary professional organization for baseball coaches at the amateur level. Its over 11,000 members represent all 50 states and 23 countries. Since its initial meeting of 27 college baseball coaches in June 1945, Association membership has broadened to include eight divisions: NCAA Division I, II and III, NAIA, NJCAA, Pacific Association Division, High School and Youth. The 76th annual ABCA Convention will be held Jan. 2-5, 2020 in Nashville, Tennessee.
