The 2021 ABCA National Assistant Coaches of the Year have been announced in all collegiate and high school divisions. The 11 Assistant Coach of the Year honorees from NCAA Div. I, II and III, NAIA, NJCAA Div. I, II and III and High School Div. I, II and III will be recognized on-stage at the 78th annual ABCA Convention in Chicago, Illinois, on Friday, January 7, 2022, in the clinic hall.

NCAA Div. III – Dr. Ron Siers, Salisbury (Md.)

NJCAA Div. I – Joe Perez, Central Arizona College
NJCAA Div. II – Alan Orgain, LSU Eunice
NJCAA Div. III – Mike Ruppenthal, Tyler (Texas)
Pacific Association Division – Bill Pinkham, Cypress (Calif.)
High School Div. I – Mark Simoneau, Topeka Seaman (Kan.)
High School Div. II – Randy Salsbury, Shiloh Christian (Ark.)

The ABCA began honoring a National Assistant Coach of the Year annually in 1999.
Coaching expertise, recruiting, loyalty to the program and respect for the players and the game are some of the many criteria examined when reviewing the candidates for the award.

The ABCA, founded in 1945, is the primary professional organization for baseball coaches at the amateur level. Its over 13,000 members represent all 50 states and 25 countries. Since its initial meeting of 27 college baseball coaches in June 1945, Association membership has broadened to include eight divisions: NCAA Division I, II and III, NAIA, NJCAA, Pacific Association Division, High School and Youth.
