The purpose of the ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award is to honor and bring acknowledgement to outstanding performances of coaches and student-athletes who achieve high academic success in the classroom.


  • The Head Baseball Coach must be a current ABCA member.
  • A member of the team's coaching staff or administration must nominate team no later than Thursday, July 14, 2022. Late nominations will not be awarded a certificate but will be added to the ABCA website.
  • Contact information for the institution's academic personnel (Academic Advisor, Compliance Director, Athletic Director, Academic Guidance Counselor or Principal) must be provided for verification.


  1. All student-athletes who used a season of eligibility or competed in any dates of varsity competition during the traditional baseball season must be included in team's cumulative grade point average (GPA) calculation.

  2. Team must have a minimum cumulative team GPA of 3.00 (on a 4.00 scale), a 3.75 (on a 5.00 scale) or an 83 (on a 100 point scale) for the entire 2021-22 academic year. Include either semesters or all quarters. DO NOT round up to 3.0 or 3.00. E.g., 2.98 does equal 3.00. Computed by the following method:
  • Total the cumulative number of semester hours or quarter hours earned including the most recent grading period;
  • Total the cumulative number of grade points earned including the most recent grading period;
  • Divide the cumulative number of grade/quality points earned by the cumulative number of semester/quarter hours earned.

Announcement & Recognition:

The ABCA will announce all of the recipients of the 2021-22 Team Academic Excellence Award on their website on July 27. Certificates will be printed in August and mailed to each head coach at the mailing address associated with their ABCA account.
