2020 ABCA/Dave Keilitz Ethics in Coaching AwardTwo men will receive the prestigious ABCA/Dave Keilitz Ethics in Coaching Award in 2020: The Master's University head coach Monte Brooks and longtime college coach Greg Frady. The pair will be presented the award during the clinics at the 2020 ABCA Convention, which is scheduled for January 2-5 at the Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center in Nashville, Tennessee.

The American Baseball Coaches Association believes that the highest calling of a baseball coach is to teach life’s lessons and model the character traits of honesty, integrity, respect and personal responsibility. The ABCA Ethics in Coaching Award honors individuals who embody the ABCA Code of Ethics. In 2017, the award was named in honor of ABCA Board Member, Hall of Fame inductee and former Executive Director Dave Keilitz.

Monte Brooks has spent the past two and a half decades at the helm of The Master’s University baseball program. Under his guidance, the Mustangs have reached the NAIA postseason in five of the last seven seasons and accumulated three Golden State Athletic Conference (GSAC) titles and three GSAC tournament titles. Brooks, who earned his 700th career win as head coach of the Mustangs in 2019, is the program’s all-time winningest coach with a record of 715-483-1. He has been named GSAC Coach of the Year three times and NAIA Region II Coach of the Year twice. This past June, Brooks directed two clinics with local baseball clubs in London, England. The players at the clinic ranged from teenagers to adults and Brooks focused his teaching mainly on hitting and fielding. He also spent time painting a local London church with members of his family while across the pond. The nine-year ABCA member has also coached at the University of Santa Clara, in the San Diego Padres organization and at Meridian High School in Idaho. Brooks is a 1999 inductee of the Idaho Baseball Hall of Fame.

Greg Frady spent nearly two decades as a head baseball coach, capturing more than 550 victories and sending over 100 players on to professional baseball careers. The 34-year ABCA member is the all-time wins and winning percentage leader at Georgia State University. Frady has also served as head coach at North Florida Community College and as an assistant coach at Georgia State, UCF and NCAA Div. II institution Columbus State. In addition to his collegiate experience, Frady has also served as the head coach of the German National Team. Frady has compiled more than 100 wins in international competition while leading the German team from 2004-14. He has coached the team in the Baseball World Cup, World Baseball Challenge and European Championship in addition to Olympic & World Baseball Classic qualifiers. Frady is a member of the ABCA Ethics in Coaching Committee. He is also a member of the Georgia Dugout Club Hall of Fame and is the founder and chair of the Georgia Dugout Club Ethics Committee.
