Turface Athletics and the American Baseball Coaches Association are proud to present a FREE webinar on Wednesday, October 9, at 1:00 p.m. Eastern. The webinar is scheduled to last one hour. Coaches are encouraged to register in advance for the webinar.

Speakers and Presenters

Chris Ball
Chris Ball is currently a Regional Sales Manager for Turface Athletics. Prior to joining Turface, Ball spent multiple years as a Minor League Baseball (MiLB) groundskeeper.

Over two decades in minor league baseball, Ball garnered numerous field maintenance awards. As Senior Director of Sports Turf Management for nine years for the Advanced-A Myrtle Beach Pelicans, Ball won a record five consecutive Carolina League Field of the Year Awards from 2006 to 2010. He was also named the Class-A Sports Turf Manager of the Year by the Sports Turf Managers Association (STMA) in both 2007 and 2010. 

Ball joined the Atlanta Braves' Triple-A affiliate in Gwinnett in 2011. In 2013, Ball was named the International League's Sports Turf Manager of the Year for his work maintaining the Gwinnett Braves' Coolray Field playing surface. Ball was selected by vote of the field managers and pitching coaches from the International League. That year, he was also named the Triple-A Sports Turf Manager of the Year award as selected by the STMA.

In 2016, Ball was chosen to serve on the sports turf staff for the Fort Bragg Game between the Atlanta Braves and Miami Marlins, the first-ever Major League game played on an active United States military installation.

In addition to his time in Myrtle Beach & Gwinnett, Ball has also served as the Head Groundskeeper of the Double-A Harrisburg Senators as well as a Supervisor of Athletic Facilities for the Parks and Recreation department of Greensboro, North Carolina.

Jeff Langner
Jeff Langner is the Business Manager for ABCA Partner, Turface Athletics. He has been in the sports field industry for the past 13 years, during which time he has spoken to a number of industry groups and field managers on the topic of sound field maintenance practices.

Langner has conducted hands-on field maintenance clinics across the country to bring safe and playable fields to all levels of play. Hehas also partnered with nearly a dozen MLB Groundskeepers over the years to present the annual field maintenance educational session at the ABCA Convention.
