In his final season at Johnson County Community College, Kent Shelley concluded a remarkable 33-year coaching career with 1,075 wins. He captured four Eastern Sub-Regional championships, four NJCAA Region VI titles, three East Jayhawk Conference titles and made two NJCAA World Series appearances. Inducted into the NJCAA Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2007, Shelley's impact extended beyond the field, guiding a total 316 student-athletes to successful transitions to four-year institutions and 44 of his former players were drafted or signed as free agents by Major League teams. In addition to his coaching duties at JCCC, he served as an associate scout for the Kansas City Royals. He also represented junior college baseball on a national level coaching Team USA in 1994. Shelley's dedication earned him recognition as ABCA President in 2007 and continues to serve on the ABCA Board of Directors.
