John Schaly, with 33 seasons as a collegiate head coach beginning in 1988, has accumulated a 1,180-645-7 (.644) career record. His tenure included 817 wins at Ashland, with 14 NCAA postseason appearances and four NCAA Div. II College World Series trips. Schaly's accolades include six conference coach of the year awards and four ABCA/Diamond Sports Regional Coach of the Year honors. Notably, his 2002 team set a school record with 48 wins and was the first team in program history to win an NCAA Div. II World Series Game. Schaly played under his father at Marietta College, earning All-America honors twice. As an ABCA Lifetime member, he served as president in 2012 and continues on the Board of Directors. His induction into the ABCA Hall of Fame alongside his father marks a unique milestone becoming just the second father-son combination to be inducted.
