Jeff Messer marked his 38th season as Slippery Rock University's baseball head coach at the start of 2023, he amassed a record of 1,072-696-5 (.605) since 1986. He's earned eight PSAC Coach of the Year titles and a two-time ABCA/Diamond Sports NCAA Div. II Atlantic Region Coach of the Year. Under Messer, Slippery Rock made 13 NCAA Tournament appearances and reached the World Series four times. His players excel both athletically and academically, with 13 drafted to the MLB and has had more than 150 PSAC Scholar-Athletes. A Springfield College alum, Messer started coaching in 1983 and served in various roles before focusing solely on his coaching career. As an ABCA Lifetime Member and former president in 2017, he continues to serve the ABCA on the Board of Directors after having served multiple terms as the ABCA NCAA Div. II chair.
